Velaikkaran Review
Velaikkaran (English: The Worker) is an Indian 2017 Tamil Action Thriller film written and directed by Jayam Raja. Featuring an ensemble cast including Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Ramji. Produced by R. D. Raja. The film is based on an attendant named Arivu and his battle against food adulteration.

Velaikkaran, given that it takes up a very serious issue and addresses it sincerely, could have been even more realistic. It still isn’t a bad film but it could have definitely been better.

சமூகத்தின் முக்கிய பிரச்சனையை வைத்து கதையைகொண்டு சென்றாலும், ஆங்காங்கு சிறிது மசாலா சேர்த்திருக்கலாமோ என்று தோன்றும்படியாக இருக்கிறது. வேலைக்காரன் ஒருவன் தனது கம்பெனிக்கு விசுவாசமாக இருக்க வேண்டும், அதற்காக மக்களுக்கு எதிராக நடக்கும் தவறுகளுக்கு உடந்தையாக இருக்கக் கூடாது என தன்னுடன் வேலைபார்க்கும் வேலைகாரர்களை கொண்டு கதாநாயகர் பெரிதாக போராடும்படியாக இந்தப்படம் சிறப்பாகவே வந்திருக்கிறது.

The trouble with the film is, it's too long (at two hours and 40 minutes) and preachy. The preachy dialogues detract from the exhaustive research Mohan Raja has done on FMCGs and how they operate. The basic thread of the film seems to be taken from the recent banning of a popular noodle brand, based on consumer complaints. On the whole, the film tries its best to be honest without making any commercial compromises.
